The Artist
Robert Marshall was born on the west coast of Scotland and his mother was from Chester Le Street in Northumberland and his father was from Greenock on the West Coast of Scotland. He excelled at Art in school but was encouraged to take more academic studies to further his career opportunities. However, in his early 20’s he received his first oil painting kit and produced a number of oil paintings for friends and family. Over the years he continued to dabble in experimenting in paintings using oils, acrylics, watercolours and pastels. In the last 5 years however, he has become a self employed artist and produces many fine landscape paintings as well as abstract art on commission. He has exhibited in several galleries and holds several solo shows throughout the year. Currently some of his paintings are in collections in the UK, France, Germany and as far away as the Falkland Islands. He now demonstrates his techniques to other artists and frequently takes evening classes in local Colleges and carries out private tuition.
